The South Dakota traditional pheasant season opens on the 3rd weekend every year.
This year, it opens on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 and runs through Tuesday, January 31st, 2025.

Here at Hill Top Hunting we pride ourselves in providing the most exciting wild bird experience in South Dakota pheasant country. The land you will be hunting has been family owned and operated since the early 1900s. My father and I are carrying on the family tradition of ranching and farming on the original home site. The pheasant paradise has been designed for your hunting pleasure. For four generations, hunting was only available to friends and relatives. We are a family ranch that happens to have an abundance of wild pheasants; we are not a game farm. We invite you to our farm in central SD for one of the best hunting experiences you will ever encounter, as well as a fantastic get away from the stress of your lives.

Our ranch is located in the heart of South Dakota , three miles south of Blunt which is 20 minutes east of Pierre , the capital city of South Dakota on Highway 14. One of the factors that needs to be considered in any hunt you take is the quality of the guide service you will receive. JD has literally grown up hunting pheasant and big bucks in South Dakota . This land has been in our family for almost 100 years and no one knows it better. You seldom hunt the same field twice during your stay.

You will hunt wild birds in milo, corn, cane, shelter belts and CRP acreage, crops, long thick tree belts, row-crops, rolling prairie, sunflower, cane strips, and dry run creek beds in the fields themselves. Our birds are all big, fast and wild.
This is the kind of pheasant hunting you have always heard and read about. We start SD hunting upland game in grass fields and along the edges of sunflower, corn, and milo fields. As the crops are harvested, pheasant hunting gets better every day right through December, when the big prairie roosters move into our food plots and winter cover.
As we want you to enjoy hunting exclusively with your friends, we prefer groups of 8-12 people; however, other sized groups welcome. Our rates are less than others. We charge per gun per day. You may stay as long as you wish, and hunt as much as you want. If you have a camper or trailer, there are RV Parking and camping facilities also located in Pierre . Ask about non shooting guests.
HUNTING PACKAGES INCLUDE: *An experienced, courteous, professional guide. You decide when you want to hunt and we will help you design an enjoyable memory making hunt. We cater to sportsmen desiring a great South Dakota hunting experience. Dogs are welcome. Bird cleaning service is available in Pierre. You supply your SD hunting license, hunting gear and supplies.
