AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders embody the longevity, integrity and honesty of the ranching tradition. AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders are those who breed and raise ranch-type horses, which remains at the core of AQHA and epitomizes the breed’s versatility.
Lauing Ranch 2019 AQHA Ranching Heritage World Show qualifiers in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Sired by Hancocks Two Boys and Bonny Blues started and shown by Becky Amio. LAUING RANCH raised foals have been eligible since 2010.
Historic LAUING RANCH QUARTER HORSES is proud to be a long-time member of the AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders, a breeder referral program, where ranches must be members of AQHA and their ranch remudas must consist of American Quarter Horses, being used primarily to work ranch cattle.
The American Quarter Horse Association is committed to the promotion of the ranch horse. The Ranching Heritage Breeders program helps ranchers to market their ranch-bred American Quarter Horses and opportunities for ranch-bred horses to be showcased in competition. Ranching Heritage Breeders like Lauing Ranch are AQHA member-owned ranches and individuals who represent longevity, honesty and integrity in raising quality American Quarter Horses and uphold ranching heritage traditions.
AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder Qualifications. Recognized “Ranching Heritage Breeders,” must meet the following criteria:
The ranch must be a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Ranch remudas must consist of registered American Quarter Horses.
The ranch must own a minimum of five AQHA-registered mares used to produce ranch horses.
The ranch must maintain a remuda for the specific purpose of operating a working cattle ranch.
The ranch must have received, at minimum, an AQHA 10-year Breeder award.
The ranch must apply to and be approved by the AQHA Ranching Council.
The ranch must pay an annual fee to maintain status as a Ranching Heritage Breeder.
Lauing Ranch “bred and raised” foals are eligible for the Ranching Heritage Challenge which highlights the versatility, soundness and willing attitude of the American Quarter Horses that are ranch-born and ranch-raised. In 2022, Lauing Ranch Quarter Horses received their 40th Year AQHA Breeders Award and they also registered over 3 dozen Ranching Heritage eligible foals. Anyone can own and show these eligible and enrolled horses in the Challenges which showcase ranch-bred American Quarter horses. AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders are entitled to use a special logo on their advertising, and that logo also appears on the AQHA Registration Certificates of horses bred by Ranching Heritage Breeders such as Lauing Ranch Quarter Horses.
